Institutional BioSafety Committee (IBC) research protocols are due Dec. 15 for the Jan. 15 IBC meeting.

The IBC reviews, approves and oversees all research activities involving:

• Recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules
• Human, animal and plant pathogens

The IBC's role is to make sure adequate biosafety procedures, equipment, facilities and training are in place for research projects with potential biohazard risks.

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month; protocol submission deadlines are one month before each meeting date.
