This class will examine how Magneto's past as a Holocaust survivor is introduced in both the comics and the Fox X-Men films. There will be an analysis of the lead-up to the introduction of Magneto's past as a Holocaust survivor in the comics, with a focus on the early Claremont run, as it was during Claremont's run that Magneto's past as a Holocaust survivor was first referenced. There will also be an analysis of the first Fox X-Men film, and how it introduces Magneto with the Holocaust being an integral part of the character from the first scene, and a comparison between X1 and the comics. The focus of this analysis will be on the attitudes perpetuated through Magneto about both the Holocaust and survivor testimony.
Class is limited to 24 participants.
