The Cypher brings together three people who have dedicated their lives to hip hop — a choreographer (Kim Holmes), a radio DJ (Zeb Powell aka Homegirl Zeb from WYBC Power Hours), and a magazine writer (Courtney Brown) — for an honest conversation about where the culture came from and how it's carried itself through time. From the block parties of the Bronx to the global stages of today, hip hop has always been more than music. It's been a movement, a message, and a mirror. Join us as these three storytellers trace the culture's roots, share what it meant to grow up inside it, and talk about how history shows up in everything they create. Moderated by Dr. Hanan Hameen founder of the New Haven Hip-Hop Conference.
