We (2 M, 1 F) have one room for rent in our 4BR2B house in the Midtown/Triple El area of Palo Alto in 20-25 min biking distance (15-20 min by car) to Stanford campus. There is plenty of space available for street parking. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, a large living room/common area with a nice large couch, a TV and a big dining table. The house has central heating (no AC) and a washing machine and dryer. There is a garden area outside with mature fruit trees and raised garden boxes in the front which are currently orphaned but would be happy to help in any planting efforts. Pets are not allowed, sorry.

The room is available October 1 (it will be actually vacated Sept 28) and preferentially for long-term (≥1 year) rent. The utilities are $95/month in addition to the rent and will be adjusted at the end of the year for the actual costs. We currently also have a cleaning lady coming every other week, which we’d be happy to keep (she charges $160 per cleaning, so 2x$40 for each housemate per month). We currently have a 1 Gbit AT&T fiber internet connection which is $20 per month per housemate.

The room is 120 sqft (plus a 2'×4' closet). It has two windows to the south and west and comes with furniture, carpet (hardwood floor underneath) and a standalone AC unit (all from the previous tenant for free or whatever seems appropriate). The room shares a bathroom with two other rooms (the other bathroom belongs to the room in the front) and has an additional storage closet in the hallway.

The monthly rent is $1400. The security deposit is $2800 (two month’s rent).

About us: I am a Stanford staff scientist until end of September and will leave the continent (and the house) Sept. 28th. Magda is a Stanford Biology Postdoc and works mostly in the lab. Liam is a software developer for Stanford and works mostly from home. Filip will move into the front room end of September and will start as a research scientist at the Arc Institute. We are all friendly, pretty laid back and reasonably quiet. We mostly relax on the weekend or are outdoors and occasionally have some friends over in the living room and sometimes we also just hang out together with a good board game or TV show.
