House: The house has a huge living room / open kitchen area with large South-facing windows. We get lots of sun throughout the day, and afternoons are warm and cozy even on days when it’s cool outside. The kitchen has upgraded appliances including a triple drawer french door refrigerator, double oven, gas stove with built-in grill, microwave, dishwasher, and lots of cabinet space. The apartment also comes with an up-to-date in-unit washer/dryer, and central heat. There are several large closets for storing less frequently needed items. Above us, we have a private rooftop area (great for hanging out or working out), only accessible to our apartment's tenants. There’s also a dramatic spiral staircase going up to the roof from our living room. The apartment is on the second floor and is the only residential unit in our building. The bottom level of the building is a kindergarten. Our front door is behind a gate with a keypad lock, which keeps package deliveries safe.
Room: The primary bedroom is very large, at about 18’ x 13’ plus an additional ~90 sqft walk-in closet. It’s on a corner of the building with windows on two walls and gets plenty of sunlight. The attached bathroom is also very large, with dual sinks, a double shower and a jacuzzi. A dedicated parking spot in our two-car garage is available for an additional $150 / month. As an alternative, you can instead consider renting our smaller bedroom (about 10’ x 10’) for only $1315/mo - we’re happy to shuffle room assignments if we find the right housemate!
Location: The apartment is located in the heart of Glen Park. You will find a grocery store, library, restaurants, and other shops within walking distance. Despite its quaint village-like feel, Glen Park is a transit hub. You can hop on BART, the Muni J line, and buses to the Mission, Castro and Golden Gate Park, all within a 5 minute walk. I-280 is just a couple of blocks away, with easy connection to US-101. Big company buses (e.g. Google, Genentech) pick up nearby. Street parking in the neighborhood is relatively safe and plentiful for San Francisco.
People The house is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, and you'll be sharing it with two other tenants. The current tenants are S and K, both men working in tech. We have filled the house with books and kitchen equipment and enjoy the occasional meal we cook together. S is a software engineer who enjoys plant based cooking and talking about religion and politics. You'll find him in his room playing video games if he's not playing pickleball or practicing kung fu. K works from home two days a week and is active in a gay running club. He is a fan of maps and public transit and vegan meal prep and sings in an amateur choir with friends. We're both clean, but not neat-freaks. We're fairly proactive about cleaning shared spaces around the house as needed, without an explicit chore chart, and are looking for someone similarly self-motivated. The photos and video in this post were taken without prior cleaning, so that should give you an idea of the everyday level of cleanliness we’d like to maintain.
We happen to be vegan and vegetarian but are fine sharing a kitchen with anyone. We both enjoy living with housemates while respecting each other’s need for space. We appreciate the unique thoughts, conversations and activities that each person brings into our shared home.
Rent and utilities Rent is $2020/mo without the parking spot, or $2170/month with parking. Water and Garbage are included. Electricity and Gas varies by usage, split equally across three people. Electric vehicle charging is available in the garage, but you'll pay your own electricity for that. We currently have gigabit fiber internet paid by one of our employers. Security deposit is 1.5 months’ rent. The landlord is a chill guy who takes care of the place (when our dryer broke, he brought a new one the next day). The apartment is rent controlled, so you can expect stable rent payments over the long term (hasn't been raised in 3 years). The apartment is non-smoking and no pets are allowed.
Availability Available starting November 1, or potentially earlier on request. The lease is for 1 year and month to month thereafter. A short term (~ 3-month) lease is also an option for the right person.
