The LSU Symphony kicks off the spring semester with works full of youthful energy, wit, and passion. The concert opens with Gabriela Frank's Three Latin American Dances—brimming with colorful orchestral timbres and vibrant rhythms. LSU faculty members Michael Gurt and Ross Ahlhorn will be featured in Shostakovich's virtuosic and witty Concerto No. 1 for Piano, Trumpet, and Strings. The evening closes with an early gem of the young Beethoven: his Symphony No. 2 in D Major.
