"Crafting Queer History: A Crash Course on Finding Personal Pasts” is a workshop designed to give participants hands-on experience navigating archives and research for historically marginalized communities in rural areas, with a specific focus on the LGBTQ+ community.
Using Colgate University’s on-campus and digital resources, we will uncover the ways everyone from all professions, majors, and interests can integrate collective history to uplift our shared communities. Through a collaborative discussion and personal exploration into available archives, history projects, and similar mediums, the participants of the workshop will construct their own answer to the question of “What is queer history?” and understand why it is important to remember LGBTQ+ history on campus.
