Art history is learning about the artist, their life, their art, and why they made it, so we understand the story behind the paintings, not just what they look like.
Each week, we will: explore an artist’s life and time, watch videos like the Perspectives series, and study one of their key paintings to see what it shows and why they painted it.
Other artists we may study: Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Rembrandt, Goya, Van Gogh, Picasso, Claude Monet, and more.
Time periods covered: Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism, Impressionism, Post‑Impressionism, Cubism, Modern Art.
These videos mix life stories, context, and explanations of works, helping us understand both who the artist was and why they created their art.
Our first artist: Caravaggio — Baroque, known for drama and light in his paintings.
Prep for the meeting: Watc...
