Located southwest of the old mining community of Nelson, Nelson Roller Coaster is a straight-through trail that makes its way up and down numerous hills as it travels through the Mojave Desert. The trail surface is mainly hard-packed dirt, gravel, loose sand, and small rocks around golf ball size. Like most desert trails in the area, this offroad trail intersects many washes and passes through a dry landscape covered in Spanish Dagger yucca plants. There are no major obstacles along the trail other than the steep ascents and descents. A high clearance 4wd vehicle with a low-end transfer case will make easy work of the trail. The trail is rated 4+ on trails offroad so: 4x4 in good working order and all terrain offroad tires required. POWERLINE LOOP will take us back down towards the river and Nelson where we started. ***Recommended...
