This Bang & Olufsen Beogram RX2 turntable (Type 5833, US 120V version), made in Denmark, is in excellent condition. B&O produced the RX2 from 1985 to 1990, and it was the final model in their line of slim, pivoted-arm "radial" decks. It's a genuine piece of Danish design history that works perfectly.
The Design:
This is classic 1980s B&O: a low, minimalist profile with a brushed aluminum top plate, a matching aluminum platter with B&O's signature radial-line graphic, and a smoked tinted dust cover that closes flush over the whole deck. The controls are reduced to three flush buttons on the deck and a single PLAY indicator light on the front panel. It looks as good switched off on a shelf or credenza as it does playing.
Fully Automatic Operation:
Press 33 or 45 and the turntable starts, the arm moves to the record and lowers itself gently into the lead-in groove.
At the end of the side, the arm lifts and returns to rest on its own and the platter stops.
CUE button lets you raise and lower the arm mid-record to pause or skip tracks.
You never have to touch the tonearm — easy on your records and easy for anyone in the household to use.
The Cartridge:
Fitted with an original Bang & Olufsen MMC 5 cartridge. MMC stands for "Moving Micro Cross," B&O's own cartridge design, made specifically for their turntables. Original MMC cartridges are getting harder to find and are a big part of what makes these decks sound right. The stylus is straight and the stylus guard is intact.
