Join our co-op in Los Altos Hills!

Come live with us in our cozy co-op! We have one second-floor bedroom with a balcony available now for ~$850 per month. Utilities + all food and other shared house costs usually come to ~$350/mo.

Idyllwild is located in Los Altos Hills (~10 min drive from Stanford's campus, ~25 min bike), a spot that feels quite remote but is conveniently close to the Page Mill exit of 280. Perks of the locale include plentiful walking paths with panoramic views of the Bay Area, world class bike routes, and a flourishing wildlife population featuring wild turkeys, coyotes, owls, and our neighbors’ horses. This could be a difficult location if you do not have a car or some solid bike legs. We have a piano, an indoor fireplace, and a big backyard with a garden.

The house is currently nine people, and almost everyone has prior experience with cooperative living. We are three men and six women, ages 22-34; many of us have some affiliation with Stanford. We are an inclusive space, and several of us identify with some flavor of queerness. We are invested in creating a warm and lively home - we enjoy spending time together, and we’re hoping for housemates who are also interested in contributing to the social atmosphere. We eat dinner together most nights, hang out in the kitchen, and like having friends over. Housemates also go out together for beach days, to hike or climb, or to go thrift shopping and dance in the city.

We have a communal grocery system facilitated by a Costco membership and two fridges. We have house dinner almost every night, but there is no obligation to be present for every meal. Two of us are vegetarian and although we have accommodated other dietary restrictions in the past, this would be a challenging living situation if you need to control what you eat. Each housemate signs up to cook ~3 times a month, and everyone pitches in on cleaning up after group meals and keeping common spaces neat. We are also each responsible for a weekly chore, and every few months we’ll do a deep clean as a group.

We have a strong preference for residents who can commit to staying for at least six months, or preferably longer. There is parking available for all tenants. We are not able to accept pets. Although the available bedroom is probably best suited to solo occupants, couples have made it work before and we are open to discussing this possibility.
