We’re seeking new members for our cooperative living community! We have one bedroom available for long-term tenant ($903/mo) opening up Oct 1st 2026.
Idyllwild is located in Los Altos Hills (~10 min drive from Stanford's campus, ~25 min bike), a spot that feels quite remote but is conveniently close to the Page Mill exit of 280. Perks of the locale include plentiful walking paths with panoramic views of the Bay Area, destination road biking routes, and a flourishing wildlife population featuring wild turkeys, coyotes, and our bougie neighbors’ horses. This could be a difficult location if you do not have a car or some solid bike legs.
The house is currently ten people, and almost everyone has prior experience with cooperative living. We are gender diverse, and most have some affiliation with Stanford. We are an inclusive space, and several of us identify with queerness. We are invested in building an intentional community. We enjoy spending time together, and we’re hoping for housemates who are also interested in contributing to the social atmosphere. We eat dinner together most nights and share many conversations in the living room, and we enjoy having friends over.
We have a communal grocery system facilitated by a Costco membership and two fridges, which makes it easy to cook together informally as well as for our weekly house dinners. Utilities + all food and other shared house costs usually come to ~$350/mo. We expect everyone to pitch in on cleaning up after group meals and keeping common spaces neat; each housemate is responsible for a weekly chore. We have a strong preference for residents who can commit to staying for at least six months (the longer the better!). There is parking available for all tenants. Unfortunately, our landlord has a strict no pets policy for dogs/cats/pigs, but an animal that doesn’t roam free might be ok. Although the available bedroom is probably best suited to a solo occupant, we are open to couples who might want to move in.
If Idyllwild sounds like a good fit for you, please reach out by telling us a bit about yourself. First, we’ll set up a quick screening call. Then, if it seems like a potential match, we can arrange a time to visit in-person and meet the whole house over dinner.
