Selling my bike purchased last year from Silicon Valley Bike Shop. No problems since apart from a couple of very minor paintwork nicks; price reduced accordingly. Description below (and first three photos) are from the shop’s original listing:
Sizing: Seat tube c-c (cm/in): 44/17.3, Effective top tube c-c, (cm/in): 56/22, 5-speed.
This is a classic Schwinn Collegiate vintage steel ladies' bike from April 1974. This bike has been partially restored, it has been cleaned and polished and given a fresh set of brand-new tires. This would make a great addition to any Schwinn enthusiast's collection, but the bike is completely rideable, as well for those who understand the limitations of a 50-year-old bicycle. This means the bike is good for casual rides at a leisurely pace around the neighborhood. This vintage machine has many of the original parts including the chain guard, spoke protector, head badge, grips, shifters, saddle and pedals. This is a true made-in-Chicago classic Schwinn. The chrome fenders still look good and the rear rack is usable for moderate loads.
With a 56cm effective top tube and a 44cm seat tube (c-c), this bike has old-school sizing and should fit most riders in the 5'4" to 5'9" range.
Frame Material: steel
Fork: steel
Drivetrain: 1x5
Rear Derailleur: Schwinn
Grips: Schwinn original
Saddle: classic Schwinn spring-loaded
Front Tire: Kenda 26x1-3/8" (new)
Rear Tire: Kenda 26x1-3/8" (new)
Serial Number: DK514351 (indicates April 1974 model)
This Schwinn classic is in overall Good to Very Good used condition for an item of this vintage. There is some Patina (minor cosmetic blemishes - scuffs and scrapes) here and there from normal usage and time. Mechanically, the bike is in rideable condition for someone who understands that this classic is about 50 years old.
From the Schwinn 1971 catalog:"First choice for fun, and the daily ride. Wide range 5-speed derailleur gears for ease in riding, hand brakes foam cushioned saddle. Elegantly styled with chrome fenders. In choice of colors: Sierra brown, campus green, sky blue and burgundy."
