An exercise in craft over concealment, the Tig chair takes its name from the tungsten inert gas welding technique used to join its iron rod frame — a process typically hidden beneath an opaque topcoat, but celebrated here in the open. Each chair is entirely handmade in three stages: frame construction, intricate wire patterning for the seat and back, and final welding by metalsmiths trained in wire-weaving techniques passed down through generations. The finished piece is given a light acid wash bath, yielding a soft grey iron patina flecked with subtle brass weld marks at every joint.
Part of a limited-run production and no longer available in stores, this was a Crate & Barrel exclusive. The pair is in like-new condition.
