Hi all! I know this question has probably been asked a million times. I have looked through a lot of threads but I thought I’d ask for my specific circumstances.
I’m a 28 year old single woman who is pretty much an old lady and homebody. I don’t party and I like peace and quiet. I was raised in a quiet and safe suburb in Indiana. I love Chicago, and I want to move there. But I’m really looking for a place to move that is very quiet but offers more than the Indiana town I’m in. I don’t want to be near parties, loud groups of people, loud music, drunk people stumbling around at 3am. I’m looking for peaceful, safe, cozy, cafes, leafy green roads, neighborly feeling places. To add, I’m sure most places will be a huge leap in quality of life from where I’m from. I prefer something that people in their twenties might find a little boring / laidback / mellow.
I only make $53k (working on that) and want to transition to remote work. My hobbies are walking, exercise, reading, crafting. Aspirationally I’d like to take sign language classes, swim, and do ceramics. I’m lefty, queer, uu, love nature. I’d like to make friends my age. I would sell my car if I could.
As far as neighborhoods, I was considering East Albany Park or Edgewater (though I’m a little nervous about safety as a single woman). Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, and Andersonville are awesome, but I’m sure out of my budget. I love taking the brown line. I’d love any suggestions, especially specific areas I should look for. Thanks!
