Hammer Theatre Center and the San José State University Natalie and James Thompson Art Gallery invite the public to experience Texturescape, the sixth exhibition presented in the Hammer2 Gallery, on view from July 18 through November 4, 2026.

The Hammer2 Gallery features a continuously rotating display of artwork by local artists and San José State University alumni. Curated by the Natalie and James Thompson Art Gallery, Texturescape brings together the work of nine artists: Irman Arcibal, Jen Clarke, Nikhil Dev, Leila Ensaniat, Michelle Frey, Lisa Heikka-Huber, Dee Mostofi, Craig Scoffone and Meghna Sharma.

Working across a variety of media, the artists invite viewers into a rich texturescape of color, pattern, and thought. Through diverse artistic approaches and materials, the exhibition explores how texture can shape perception, memory, and connection.

The Hammer2 Gallery represents an ongoing partnership between the Hammer Theatre Center and the San José State University Natalie and James Thompson Art Gallery. As the sixth exhibition presented in the space, Texturescape continues the gallery’s mission of showcasing local artists and SJSU alumni while creating new opportunities for audiences to engage with visual arts in a performing arts venue.

Plant Bingo begins in the Hammer lobby at 6 p.m. Texturescape reception guests may choose to participate on-site for a reduced rate of $10 per bingo card.

The Hammer Theatre is located on the Paseo de San Antonio between 2nd and 3rd streets in downtown San Jose. Nearby parking is available as well as VTA bus and Lightrail service. Transportation info is available on our website. The Hammer2 Gallery is located on the 1st and 2nd floor of the theatre and is accessible via elevator.
