UTRGV Grants Academy: Capstone Workshop, Presented by Global Proposal Solutions

Dear faculty,

 

We are pleased to announce the UTRGV Grant Academy Summer Workshop Series!

 

Co-hosted by the Office of Research Enhancement and the College of Liberal Arts, this summer grant development workshop series is open for all UTRGV tenure and tenure-track research faculty, but it is especially designed for:

• Researchers who haven't submitted a grant proposal before (or for whom it's been a long time!),
• Non-STEM researchers, such as those in the humanities and fine arts, and 
• STEM researchers interested in interdisciplinary partnerships with non-STEM researchers.

 

The capstone of the series is a full-day, in-depth grant development workshop presented by guest speakers Dr. Warren Burggren and Dr. Rick Nader, Global Proposal Solutions (GPS) consultants:

Presented by:  Dr. Warren Burggren and Dr. Rick Nader, Global Proposal Solutions. Dr. Nader has 35 years of experience developing and writing proposals to federal, private and corporate foundations and international funding sources at major R1 as well as Primarily Undergraduate Institutions, Emerging Research Institutions and Minority-serving Institutions (HBCU, HIS, AANAPISI).  He previously served as a program manager at the Office of International Science and Engineering at the National Science Foundation. Nader has served as PI or Co-PI on NSF, Department of Education, State Department, as well as public-private funding, and international awards. Dr. Burggren’s research projects have been funded by multiple agencies during his career, including a highly unusual ~46 years of continuous federal agency funding.  He currently is supported both by the National Science Foundation through 2026 and by the Navy through the Department of Defense through 2027. We are excited to bring their wealth of knowledge and experience to share with UTRGV researchers!

 

Description:

Dr. Burggren and Dr. Nader will focus the workshop on the grant proposal development process, from nascent idea to narrative development. They will share examples from multiple funders, including NEH and private foundations. Participants will leave with ideas and resources ready to be implemented in their own proposal development.

 

(Note: In-person participation is preferred and encouraged, but Zoom links for hybrid participation for all workshops can be shared upon request.)
