Rochester: Join us for ROC Against Cancer!
Bring your family and friends to make connections with local health resources and learn about cancer prevention and various aspects of our health, including nutrition, physical activity, and mental health.
This event is brought to you by: Ibero American Action League, the Urban League of Rochester, Common Ground Health, Fidelis Care, Excellus, MVP Health Care, Genentech, Essential Solutions, WDKX, and Wilmot Cancer Institute.
We're excited to offer:
- Mobile health screenings by University of Rochester Medicine Mobile Mammography (to schedule, call (585) 273-5661 or visit https://urmed.info/4wO8du2), Trillium Mobile Clinic, and St. Joseph's Neighborhood Mobile Outreach and Engagement
- Food from the Foodlink Mobile Pantry, Wandering Grounds Coffee, Low Carbilicious!, and Smoothies Plus
- Entertainment from Poder 97.1 FM Radio's DJ Mambo
- Activities including yoga and zumba from BCCR, face painting (done by our own Dr. Jamie Flerlage), and fire truck tours for kids with a Rochester Fire Department Engine. Plus, the new MLK Park playground and the neighboring splash pad should be open to the public.
- See the inflatable lungs and walk through the inflatable colon, hands-on ways to learn about cancer screening.
- Info from community organizations, including the Center for Community Health & Prevention, Cancer Services Program of the Finger Lakes, AMR ambulance services, 13thirty Cancer Connect, Cancer Support Community at Gilda's Club, URochester Medicine Lung Cancer Screening Program, and hands-only CPR training, and Jordan Health.
