Outdoor Living Space Design Course

About

This course is a fundamental residential and outdoor living space design class created for the Oklahoma community. The course consists of three class meetings and provides a hands-on learning experience guided by a professional landscape architect and professor. During the course, participants will print a site plan of their own property and create a personalized outdoor living design. You will learn how to organize and plan functional outdoor spaces, including patios, decks, pools, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, shade structures, seating areas, water features, paving, and gardens. Participants will gain practical skills in design theory, drawing techniques, the design process, material options, and designing their own yard. By the end of the course, you will be able to take home your own completed design drawings. Please note that this is a space planning and design course and does not focus on the selection or placement of specific plant species.

WHO CAN ENROLL
It is open to any community members who are interested in design and creativity. No prior design experience or knowledge is required. Adults only.

INSTRUCTORS
Main Professor: Qing Lana Luo, PLA, MLA, ASLA, Professor of Landscape Architecture and Sustainable Design & Licensed Landscape Architect.
Guest Professor: JoHannah H. Biang, PhD, Assistant Professor of Ornamental Horticulture and Sustainable Landscapes.

(All 3 classes are required to attend.)

1st Class Meeting: 07/23 Th: 10 AM – 3:30 PM
2nd Class Meeting: 07/28 T: 10 AM – 3:30 PM
3rd Class Meeting: 07/30 Th: 10 AM – 3:30 PM

• Each day includes a 1-hour lunch break. Lunch is on your own.
• All classes will be held in person at OSU in Stillwater, OK.
