Add to calendarPut on a VR headset and step into Ukraine. War Up Close is a free exhibition of real 360° footage filmed across the country by the War Up Close museum. For a few minutes the war stops being something on the news and becomes a place you are standing in: a burned-out apartment block, a street where every window is gone, the wreckage of the “Mriya,” once the largest airplane ever built.
It is documentary footage, with no blood and nothing graphic, so everyone is welcome. You don’t need any experience with VR. Our team will get you set up, and with 12 headsets on loan from the UT Libraries, the wait for a turn is short. Mykola Omelchenko, who co-founded War Up Close and photographed much of what you will see, will be there to talk with visitors.
Come anytime during the day and stay as long as you like. Admission is free.
Hosted by the Ukrainian Club at UT Knoxville, with War Up Close, and koloHUB. VR equipment provided by the UT Libraries.
We are also looking for volunteers to help on the day, to greet visitors, and keep the headsets moving. If you can give a few hours on the 24th, write to contact@koloHUB.com.
