“Filming” the Molecular Pathway of Human Translation Initiation by Cryo-EM

 

Translation initiation is a central regulatory step in human gene expression that shapes proteome composition, cell fate, and disease-relevant protein programs. In this seminar, I will show how we combined cryo-EM, time-resolved biophysics, and sequence-function analyses to reveal the molecular pathway of human translation initiation — from initial assembly and start-site selection to ribosomal subunit joining — and redefine the sequence logic of initiation.
