Add to calendarJoin Dr. Aaron Titus, Teaching Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy at North Carolina State University for a discussion on how Mastery Grading can improve student learning and achievement. In this interactive workshop, Dr. Aaron Titus will explore the connection between mastery grading and metacognition, highlighting how students learn to monitor their own understanding, reflect on feedback, and take ownership of their learning. Drawing on his experience implementing mastery grading and developing successful metacognitive interventions for students, Dr. Titus will share practical strategies for fostering growth-oriented learning environments, supporting reassessment opportunities, and scaling these approaches in introductory and larger-enrollment courses. Faculty will leave with concrete ideas for incorporating metacognitive practices and mastery-based assessment into their own teaching.
