Getting to Know Our New Dean: A Fireside Chat with Andy Josephson
In this fireside chat, Andy Josephson, dean of the UCSF School of Medicine, will join UCSF Department of Medicine Chair Bob Wachter to discuss the School of Medicine’s vision and strategic priorities. Their conversation will explore the forces shaping academic medicine, what these changes mean for learners, faculty, and the broader health care system, and how members of the DOM community can engage with SOM leadership to advance innovation, collaboration, and shared institutional priorities.
Speaker:
S. Andrew Josephson, MD, is dean of the UCSF School of Medicine, vice chancellor for medical affairs at UCSF, and the Carmen Castro Franceschi and Gladyne K. Mitchell Neurohospitalist Distinguished Professor. A neurologist specializing in neurovascular disorders and inpatient neurologic care, he founded UCSF’s Neurohospitalist Program and is nationally recognized for pioneering the neurohospitalist model of care. Josephson is editor-in-chief of JAMA Neurology and has received numerous honors for teaching and mentorship at UCSF.
