Misa (Mone Kamishiraishi, who played Chihiro in Spirited Away: Live on Stage and was the voice actor for Mitsuha in Your Name.) takes a job at Kurita Optics, a distributor of toy planetariums. There she meets panic-attack-prone colleague Takatoshi (Hokuto Matsumura, an actor in the live action 5 Centimeters Per Second and live action xxxHolic, as well as the voice of Souta in Suzume) and the two stigmatized workers form a connection. Compared to the works of Leo McCarey and Yasujiro Ozu in the media, All the Long Nights played the Berlin International Film Festival before going on to prestigious slots in many of the best film festivals in Asia (the closing night film at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, opening night at Jeonju, with Beijing and Shanghai in between, and with a stopover at Manhattan’s great Japan Cuts), but has rarely played on the big screen in the United States before now.
In Japanese with English subtitles.
