How do we build human values into technology rather than bolting them on afterward? In this interactive workshop opening the ai-et Speaker Series, Larry Medsker, editor of Springer’s AI and Ethics Handbook and co-founder of the journal AI and Ethics, offers a practical framework for determining which commitments must be built into an AI system’s architecture and which are familiar habits that can change. A short talk is followed by small-group work on real cases on Agentic AI and Accountability and Generative AI in Writing, Journalism, and Schools that bring humanities, technical, and industry perspectives into direct conversation.
