1 bedroom in 2 bedroom duplex; Midtown Palo Alto; available Nov1

I'm moving away from the Bay Area and looking for someone to take over my portion of an apartment lease for the months of November and December (11/1/17 thru 12/31/17). There is a possibility to extend the lease in January 2018.

I share this apartment in Midtown Palo Alto with my awesome roommate (25F). The apartment is in a great location-- walking distance to Safeway, CVS, Walgreens, Starbucks, and lots more (<5 min); Caltrain (~15 min); a short drive to the 101 (~5 min), and biking distance to downtown Palo Alto and Mountain View (~15 minutes).

The apartment:

• 2 bedrooms
• 1 shared bathroom
• Decently sized kitchen with refrigerator, gas stove/over and dishwasher,
• Washer + dryer in garage
• Storage space in garage
• Utilities run about $100/month per person give or take depending on the time of year. This includes water/electricity/internet/gas.
• Landlady responds to issues within 1 day
• Remainder of lease is Nov 1 thru Dec 31 2017 with the possibility of lease extension if it's a good fit for all parties

The room:

• Larger of the two bedrooms
• Huge(!) walk-in closet
• Looks out into private back "yard" area (dirt area with trees)
• Quiet, doesn't get too bright

The area:

• Quiet
• Safe
• Convenient to Caltrain
• Safeway and Midtown Center are a 5 minute walk, if that.

The roommate:

• 25F
• Likes to hang out, but also takes a good amount of personal space/time
• Project manager/teacher/ballet dance
• SUPER sweet and considerate
• Easy to talk to
• Fun to hang out with and binge watch shows together (Friends, Gilmore Girls, Jane the Virgin to name a few favs)
• Likes things to be generally picked up, but isn't obsessive about things being perfectly clean. Basically a clean up your own messes and be considerate to each other kind of attitude. If a dish stays in the sink for a day or two bc you're busy that's ok. If you're stressed at work you don't need to be stressed at home over one little dish or a couple sweaters/papers strewn about the living room. If the sink is full of dirty smelly dishes for days on end and the living room looks more like your closet than a common space, though... that's not gonna work.

You:

• Ideally another female in her 20's
• Similar attitude towards cleanliness
• Talks to people in a calm and considerate manner when they need to bring up issues
• Stable income/ability to afford rent and utilities

The process will be to establish a good potential fit via email, come see the place and meet us, submit an official application to our landlady that includes a credit check. The last bit is just how we have to handle it to put someone else on the lease and take me off. We can't just sublet, unfortunately. An extension of the lease beyond December depends on our landlady, as she has to meet the new tenant and decide/approve. So for now November-December, but if you're looking for a place beyond December then we have the potential to accommodate that.
