Position Summary: The Design Engineer will interpret client briefs, provide cost specifications, design firmware and software, test prototype designs, and develop specifications and safety standards.
Qualifications Required: • B.S. in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics (with appropriate CS courses) • Experience in: ◦ Embedded firmware/software programming, including C and C++ ◦ Embedded Linux application development ◦ Python ◦ VCS/SCM (GIT)
Qualifications Desired: • Knowledge of VHDL • Knowledge of, or willingness and curiosity to learn, basic electronic design (schematic capture, PCB design)
Responsibilities: • Assist in the design, development, and testing of electronic components and systems • Collaborate with senior engineers on various engineering projects • Maintain and update documentation and technical reports • Work with clients on production efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget • Learn new tools and techniques as required by current design methodologies • Assist in the continual improvement of company design processes • Other duties as assigned
Success Factors & Job Competencies: • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment • Ability to handle multiple projects and maintain awareness of deadlines • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to clearly explain reasoning and designs to guide development and production
Salary and Benefits: • Full-time, exempt position at an hourly rate of $32–$42 (depending on experience) • Two weeks accrued PTO • 11 paid holidays • Health insurance allowance: $350/month • Flexible hybrid work environment for Virginia applicants • 401(k) plan with 3% employer match • Participation in a profit-sharing plan
