$2,000
I have recently graduated from Stanford, I am taking a job in SF, my job is walking distance to my new apartment, parking under my new apartment is $275/mo, and thus I will have to part with my Subaru, which I have most gladly driven for more than 2 years.
I am the third owner of this Subaru. I bought it from a GSB grad who was selling the car because she was leaving the country. Previously the car was owned by a family for 10 years, and was very well kept and looked after. All the owners, including myself, have kept records of ALL the repairs (including oil changes) on the car, dating back 13 years. I have followed the previous owners' legacy and have maintained the car very well, changing the oil strictly every 3k miles.
As far as I know, the car should need no major repairs/modifications, and runs very well. Here are the specs:
2.2 Liter engine (small engine + Japanese car = fuel economy). Subaru's core competence is acheiving high HP with small engine volume on AWD train. They have proprietary engine technology which is licensed by many other car manufacturers.
All wheel drive = All time 4x4 = Safety + Performance
ABS (Even if you don't buy my car, just please don't buy a car without ABS, it has saved me from so many imminent accidents on the highway)
Two front airbags.
Power locks
Power steering
Power windows
Cruise control
Ski racks installed, great for going to Tahoe
Automatic transmission with three lower performance gears, again, great for going to Tahoe.
One of the most powerful A/Cs I have ever seen in a car, which speaks to Subaru's low engine vol/high performance sell.
Casette player
Huge trunk space with trunk cover and foldable back seats. The lower SW trunk makes it incredibly easy to load and unload.
Metallic paint, light brown/gray color.
This car is low, and is an AWD, so it holds on to the road very well. All this coupled with the ABS, it feels safe driving on winding roads.
This is the ideal car to transport things around if you are just moving on campus, if you would like to stash your BBQ, cooler and beach chair in the trunk and hit Santa Cruz and such. I am ready to debate anyone who says a convertible is the best beach car. On the contrary it is the Subary AWD!
I changed the timing belt and the battery when I got the car @77k miles. I got the battery checked a couple months ago where I bought it, and they said it was in good shape.
I changed the rear brakes this year.
I changed the alternator a year ago, and the ignition circuitry this year. Everything was replaced with original parts. As far as I know, the electrical parts of the car are in very good shape right now.
The car is priced low since it has a salvage title due to some minor parking lot accident, where someone backed into my stationary car last October. There is also some minor body damage I have caused by backing into a wall in our parking lot.
Apparently, I have been driving the car ever since the accident (October 2007), and have not had any problems related to the accident ever since. The wheels have been aligned after the accident, and the car drives pretty well. In any case, had it not been for the parking fees where I now live, I would be keeping this car and driving it, since it is so convenient.
So before someone else seizes this incredible deal (THE FAIR VALUE OF THIS CAR ON KBB is ~4.2k !!!) get this car!
VIN# available upon request. I am ready to make arrangements to show the car. I can deliver the car, if you decide to buy it, around September 7th.
