Ideal for peninsula commuters as the neighborhood is flanked by highways 101 and 280, and the apartment is less than a 15 minute walk from the Caltrain station at 22nd Street. Potrero Hill is a great neighborhood for someone who prefers a quiet and safe neighborhood in San Francisco.
There is an option for an indoor garage parking space at extra cost, but also plenty of unrestricted street parking in the area.
The Home:
Wonderfully well lit, with large windows in each room and several skylights dotting the home. Hardwood floors in common areas, tiled bathrooms, and carpeted bedrooms. The living room has a vaulted ceiling and bay windows, looking out towards Arkansas St. with a view of the Bay Bridge in the distance. The kitchen has an electric stove and new, top of the line appliances (garbage disposal, dishwasher, built in microwave, etc.), and the space is great for hosting friends for dinner.
A washer and dryer are located inside the unit. Electric system for apartment heating, and individual thermostats for each room, which cuts down PG&E bills approximately 50% as compared to similarly sized homes. The highlight is the incredible light (and cross ventilation) this unit receives - from both the West and East side!
The Room:
The room is situated at the front of the apartment with a front-facing window that gets great light from Arkansas street (see photo below). It is cozy in size but includes nice closet space. You'll have dedicated access to the full bathroom in the common area that is only shared with the occasional guest, as the master room has it's own bathroom.
The Neighborhood:
Very safe neighborhood, just a block away from "downtown" Potrero Hill - the quaint 18th St. stretch dotted with coffee shops, bars and restaurants (Plow, Farleys, Goat Hill Pizza, Chez Maman, all on this stretch and just a 5 minute walk away).
A 10 minute walk to Whole Foods at 17th and Rhode Island.
2 blocks away from the Potrero Public Library and Jackson Playground.
For the Commuters:
15 minute walking distance to Caltrain (22nd St. station).
25 minute walking distance to 4th and King Caltrain Station.
Within a 2 minute drive of both 101 and 280.
Just a block away from the stops for the Muni lines 10 and 22.
The Roommate:
D, 31, a technology professional working down on the peninsula. I'm originally from the east-coast, but California feels like home. I rarely take my work home and stay active outside of my job - running/cycling/surfing/camping. I enjoy cooking at home and hosting friends for dinner on occasion. My preference is for listening to music/watching films over watching TV shows and sports.
I'm an easy-going, considerate, and approachable roommate - I keep the communication channel open and honest. No passive-aggressive games. I always clean up after myself and am looking for someone like-minded to maintain a tidy place to call home. I appreciate stimulating conversation/dry banter with my roommates, but I'm also cognizant of space and privacy.
The only requirement is that you have a stable income and actively participate to keep common areas clean. Not looking for a shut-in roommate who needs 24/7 quiet time.
