I'm a recent Stanford grad (MA, 2002; PhD, 2003) and now a new Stanford professor. I have a new, spacious home and I'm looking to rent out one of the rooms. The room is newly painted, new carpet, and comes furnished with a folding futon, dresser, small desk, lamp, and a closet. (can be unfurnished upon request)
The house is right off of University Ave, close to campus (a 20-minutes bike ride away for the green-conscious, or a short drive up University for the rest of us! :-) ) and walking distance to IKEA, Home Depot, Starbucks, a huge new supermarket, and tons of restaurants and cafes in downtown. It has wireless, cable TV, all that good stuff -- in addition to your own room and bathroom, you would have use of the rest of the house, kitchen, family room, laundry, backyard patio, garage, etc.
Please, check out the website for photos and a virtual tour:

This house is especially ideal for students who have an interest in East Palo Alto or who do community work in the city. It's located in "University Square" so it's a great location, but you would be close enough to the community to mingle (plenty of churches, the Boys & Girls Club, the new YMCA, all nearby) and get more involved in the many Stanford University projects that serve the community. Your neighbors are all professionals, Stanford folks, Google and software engineers, etc., but you're close to the action as well.
Graduate students and young professionals are preferred, but mature undergrads will also be considered -- check it out. If you're interested, call me: 650-491-4442 (for the fastest response), or just email me at halim@stanford.edu.
