$850 Room for rent in the Mission, San Francisco

The Room
A big room. 12'x12' with two windows facing the yard and the back entry way. It gets great sunlight and has shelves built in. (see woodwork section below). Small closet in room. Rent is $850 a month. Water, Trash, Gas & Electric are included. We have wireless DSL which is $20 a month. There is a coin-op washer and dryer. So yes, you have to pay. But it's on-site Shared with upstairs flat. Which is nice. And there is no house phone. We just use our cell phone these days.

The Yard
Yes, it has a yard. A shared one with our fabulous neighbors upstairs. It's a good size with lots of trees and shade.

The Location
Surrounded by bars, restaurants and all the amenities of 16th & Valencia. It's on a small side street and secluded enough that it is relatively quiet for the neighborhood. Under two blocks to BART and busses. Close to everything. Street parking only with permit.

The ambiance
So the previous owner had some sort of whittling fixation, because there's lots of wood in the place. Shelves, walls, it really doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. But if you like the idea of living in a half-baked pseudo-chalet that slightly resembles a cuckoo clock, this is the place for you. We love it. This is a small flat with very little common area. If you need lots of common space, this is not the flat for you.

Bathroom
There is one bathroom. It is a split bathroom (toilet and shower in separate rooms, which helps).

About Them
She is a 40 years old, works 9 to 5 downtown for a major Telco. Smokes outdoors and has an active social life. Dry sense of humor and major shoe addiction.

He is mid 30's and works in tech as some kind of a rocket scientist/engineer. Originally from Mexico City. Underwater hockey enthusiast and hiking caving backpacker extraordinaire. Goofy sense of humor. Likes 'the yap.'

About You
First and foremost, you are responsible. You pay your rent on time, every time. You communicate (passive-aggressives need not apply). You pick up after yourself. You try to be considerate. If you smoke, you do so outdoors only.

Animals
One dog allowed. Sorry, no cats due to allergies.
