This is a portable air conditioning unit. It just plugs into the wall and has a hose that goes straight into the window (with a kind of thing keeping it in place there and keeping the window more or less sealed). We kept it installed in the baby's room year-round, never noticed it was there when we didn't need it. It blows cold air (or just lukewarm air if you want to use it as a white noise machine). It is Eco-whatever even though Stanford pays for electric, that's not a bad thing of course. And it actually does cool the room (and the upstairs if you leave the door open) considerably, on those hot days it is key. I paid 150 for it, it looks like it is 300 new on Amazon. There have never been any mechanical problems.
50 bucks.
