The battery alone, a high-quality Panasonic from LUNAcycle, was over $500. Comes with the charger and is a 48V type. 48v Panasonic 11.5ah. Only used for a year and has plenty of cycle life left.
The bike has a controller for the 500W motor which is pretty powerful. There is also a display for the voltage for which I have also taped a correspondence chart between voltage and battery percentage onto the frame so you know how much life you have. It definitely has quite some kick to it. You have to ride it to see. But it has been a great bike for commuting to and from Stanford.
It is a folding bike too. Small 20" wheels like what you get with Dahon bikes. Just customized for e-bike. It is a steel frame so it is pretty heavy but very durable since steel is stiffer than aluminum.
