FREE STANFORD CAMPUS STUDIO AS WORK EXCHANGE

Small studio apt. in exchange for 10 hours/wk. of home maintenance tasks. Located on stunning 1-acre property in quiet faculty residential neighborhood close to campus center. Studio is quiet and private, separate from our home, with a separate entrance. It is suitable for 1 person only, consisting of 1 small room (10’x 11’) plus small bathroom and closet, and is partially or fully furnished. Includes free wiFi, off-street parking, attic storage space, and its own back yard with picnic table and vegetable garden. No kitchen but has refrigerator, toaster oven, hot plate and microwave, and tenant is welcome to use kitchen in main house. Also, full access to our washer/dryer, swimming pool, hot tub, outdoor gas grill, large yard, flower gardens, fruit trees, fern-filled redwood grove, and bike shed. We are a faculty couple with a cat. Instead of rent, we ask tenant to spend 10 hrs./wk. helping with home maintenance/repair jobs involving minor carpentry and mechanical problem-solving (whatever breaks!), gardening, computer issues, and miscell. household tasks. Times are flexible and negotiable, but must include some time during the day on weekdays; can be on 2 or 3 days/wk. Studio is available immediately and indefinitely; we strongly prefer a long-term occupant – ABSOLUTE MINIMUM 1 year. (Previous tenants include 2 Stanford grad students who both stayed 4 years.) Must be nonsmoker, have driver's license, excellent English, computer skills, flexible schedule and references. PhotoShop, website, and Excel skills desirable.
