Hi everyone! I am devastated and upset, but it seems like I need to let go of my USC dream. For context, I am a first generation immigrant and a low income student. After immigration I went to CC and got super excited about studying Comm and Journalism. Since starting my CC journey, I’ve led podcasts, created content for brands and my school, joined many initiatives and fell in love with USC Annenberg Comm program. I got in. With two scholarships that cover 90% of my tuition. I also got into UC Berkeley with full ride + housing. Since I found out about the news, I clearly knew - USC is the way to go. But because of delay in my document renewal moving to LA from out of state and starting over without knowing anyone in the area is scary and uncomfortable. I will also need to work to provide for my housing and food, which makes me realize I won’t be able to enjoy college experience as much. At UC Berkeley support system for students like me is so much better. They were able to give me consultation and always keep in touch, while USC takes forever to find out any information, including enrollment and financial aid. It is a tough situation: my heart wants USC, but my brain realizes that Cal is the way to go. I’d appreciate any comments from anyone who was in a similar situation. I can’t wait no more to commit, but also there’s a hope the document delay will get resolved soon. submitted by /u/Honest-Goat-1678 [link] [comments]
