Looking for housing north of Palo Alto (or in city)

Hi there,

I am a graduate student at Stanford. My boyfriend is a young professional with a small dog. He has accepted a job in San Francisco and will be moving across the country in 2 weeks. He is looking for housing that is either in the city, or somewhere between Palo Alto and the city. I will be living in my own place down near Palo Alto--this search is just for my guy and his small but energetic dog. He is mature, friendly, respectful and responsible.

He is open to considering a number of options, including:

1. furnished temporary housing (either one room in a house or a small apartment if it is at low cost)
2. moving in with a roommate looking for someone to fill a room (he is a very friendly guy and you will love him just as much as I do--you must allow his dog to come along, though)!
3. an efficiency/junior studio/studio/one bedroom apartment/cottage that is affordable--around 1400 but he can be flexible on that price depending on location and other factors.
