Meet Leonard, the most awesome floor lamp you'll ever see! $20

Leonard, too, has been one of my oldest friends, purchased on a whim early in my freshman year and accompanying me throughout my time at Stanford. I can say that I've never owned a more awesome lamp. Leonard is a great source of soft, ambient lighting for working (a superior alternative to the harsh fluorescent lighting!) or whatever else it is you do in soft, ambient lighting, illuminates your room in warm light, and is a great conversation starter. Leonard is used to receiving many compliments from my friends, so he may have a bit of an ego, but I think it won't be a problem.

Unfortunately, Leonard got moldy one summer, requiring that I replace his original lampshade with my own makeshift one (which is why I have marked down the price by more than 50%!), but the pleasing aesthetic effect remains the same. Please consider taking Leonard under your wing (well, roof). It would be much preferable to an agonizing demise in the local dump.
