Post-doctoral fellow positions in Immuno-oncology and bioinformatics, The Khleif lab at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Washington DC

We are currently recruiting talented scientists for post-doctoral fellowships in the fields of immuno-oncology and bioinformatics.

The major focus of the lab is to understand:

1. the cellular and molecular mechanisms of resistance to immune therapeutics (Nature Immunology; PMID: 31358999) including checkpoint blockers and small molecular inhibitors;
2. T cell plasticity and role of cell signaling in metabolic reprograming of immune cells for the development of better immune-mediated therapeutics (Nature Immunology; PMID: 33230330);
3. the science of combination immune therapy (Cancer Immunol Res; PMID: 28848055). Candidates with an experience in cellular and molecular immunology and T cell biology would be preferred. Ability to work with mouse models of cancer would be highly desirable. Successful post-doctoral research fellow would be expected to conduct high quality research, publishable in high impact journals. Fellows would also be encouraged to apply for independent postdoctoral grants.

Job description and expectations:

Candidates for the post-doctoral position in Immuno-Oncology should have a Ph.D./ MD in Immunology or a closely related field. This position will involve utilizing in vivo mouse tumor models to understand mechanisms of immunotherapy resistance. Experience in techniques such as animal handling, drug administration, multispectral flow cytometry, ELISPOT, cytometric bead array, TCR immune-sequencing, and cell-based bioassays is highly desired. Familiarity with handling large data sets to investigate immune pathways dysregulated in cancer and immunotherapy-resistant tumors is preferred.
Candidates for the post-doctoral position in bioinformatics should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in any quantitative science or immunology; should be proficient in Python (or C/C++) & R programming; should be able to handle large data sets to investigate immune pathways dysregulated in cancers, immunotherapy-resistant tumors, and in immune cells; should have a strong quantitative background and computational genomics experience. Experience in analysis methods for next generation transcriptomics (bulk and single cell RNA-Sequencing) and genomics are highly desirable.

The candidate must be proficient in oral and written English, be able to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment, have excellent organizational skills, and be able to analyze, interpret and communicate data in a logical and timely manner.
