We're a family near Stanford looking for a caring, dependable coach to help our 14-year-old son stay on top of his schoolwork. He's a curious, sharp kid and strong in math. Like a lot of gifted kids with ADHD (mostly the inattentive kind), he does the work, then forgets to turn it in. Getting started on tasks he doesn't enjoy is hard, and so are transitions.
We're looking for someone to be a steady, encouraging presence through two short remote check-ins a day: about 15 minutes in the morning to help him plan and get going, and about 15 minutes in the evening to make sure the day's work is finished and, most importantly, actually submitted.
We want someone who genuinely understands what this kind of executive-function challenge feels like from the inside, who can build trust with a smart teenager, and who sees the value in helping him close the gap between what he can do and what actually gets turned in.
