I'm looking for a replacement for my room in a fantastic 4-bedroom 3.5-bath house on the border of Palo Alto and Mountain View. The room is positioned by itself on the first floor of a three-floor townhouse, and has en suite bath and a lot of privacy, so this is a great opportunity!
The timing of the move-in is flexible. You would be taking over my 1/4 share of the current lease, which ends on July 1. Extending the lease at the same or close to the current rent would be straightforward (we have changed out roommates mid-lease multiple times, and have extended the lease with only the most minor rent increases for the last 5 years).
LOCATION: The location is convenient for everything you could want. The house is right off of El Camino (but set back enough to not have street noise), a couple blocks north of the San Antonio Shopping Center. It's a 10-15 minute drive or 20-25 bike ride to Stanford, downtown Palo Alto, Sand Hill, downtown Mountain View, Google, etc. It's less than a 20 min walk to the San Antonio Caltrain station, and there's a bus a block away that runs to Palo Alto Caltrain or to San Jose. It's also walking distance to a bunch of restaurants and stores around the San Antonio Shopping Center. There are 6 groceries within a few blocks.
THE HOUSE: It's a three-story townhouse that was built about 5 years ago and is beautiful. There's central A/C throughout the house. There's a huge common space with a great kitchen (all-new appliances, dishwasher granite counters, etc.) and living room (big TV, the comfiest couch you will ever experience). The bottom floor has the available bedroom/bathroom and the garage only; the common areas are on the second floor and the other three bedrooms (including the master) are on the third floor. There's a washer and dryer in house on the third floor. The living room and kitchen, as well as all kitchen items like cookware, are shared. There's a balcony and a private ground-floor patio, plus a grill area shared by the neighbors.
There are 12 townhouses in the complex, mostly families. Parking is easy in either shared spaces in the driveway of the complex or on the street. There's a garage (parked in by other roommates) where you can store a bike.
THE ROOM: The room is about 120 square feet and has an attached bath. It's plenty private, since it's the only room on the first floor. There are nice windows facing northeast, and room for storage in the bathroom.
THE ROOMMATES: There are 3 great roommates: a 28-year-old woman in tech, a 30-year-old woman in sports medicine, and a 26-year-old man in banking. All are friendly/social and tend to be pretty early-bed-early-risers during the week (other than wine and TV), and who sometimes like to socialize (together or separately) on the weekends. All are decently neat but don't mind a bit of clutter. A fantastic cleaning team comes every two weeks.
THE RENT: The rent itself is $1650. This does not include utilities (about $75 a month), internet (about $25 a month), or cleaning ($60 a month).
