There's an awesome house for rent in Portola Valley (20 minute drive to campus) that I'm looking at renting with three to four other Stanford affiliates. The house is four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, on a hill with an unobstructed view from the Dumbarton to Bay bridges. Big deck and lots of space.
The lease is, unfortunately, only for about nine months (possibly 12, and hopefully renewable). Rent would be about $1300 without utilities (+/- depending on if you're in the master bedroom, which has an attached bathroom and walk-in closet).
