Are you a community oriented individual excited by the idea of starting a new co-op house in San Francisco?
We are 4 awesome humans starting a 5-bedroom community house near the Glen Park BART station, and we'd love for you to join us! We'll have vegetarian-friendly family dinners, family meetings where we serve the community with the best co-living puzzles (disagreements and conflicts in the house, but we like to think of them as puzzles to be solved together instead of problems ;), gratitude circles, and a family fund for anyone to use creatively for the benefit for the community and everyone living in it. We're looking for another founding member of this newly born community house. Join us and design the communal space, activities, and culture from Day 1!
We're starting this community because we understand how much communities mean for individuals, societies, and the world, and we want to contribute to something that's larger than each of us. We are learning to be mindful with our interactions with the world: we want to be present, authentic, kind, and vulnerable in our community and we want to push and support one another. It's a place to share our home dishes with housemates, or learn to cook cuisine from across the world; to design floating civilizations and future car-less cities; to discuss the meaning of existence; and to enjoy a sip of hot tea with a side of solitary bliss. Arts or sciences? We love both! And we love creating and sharing our projects: art, fashion, writing, music, hardware, software..., and of course, collaborating with others!
Location: 90 Rotteck St, San Francisco (5-min walk from Glen Park BART and tech shuttle pick-up)
House: 3-floor beautiful single-family home, 5 spacious bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 1 garage, small backyard
Price: single rooms for ~$1300, doubles for ~$800, with a $1948 security deposit
Move in date: April 22nd
We just closed on the lease a few days ago, so the house is officially ours!
More about us:
E is a 27 year old aerospace engineer and aspiring roboticist, with a passion for piano performance, music composition and high-speed hiking. Originally from Australia, he arrived in the Bay Area last summer and has been exploring various communities around town, from one featuring weekly lectures to one seeking to build floating societies.
J is a 24 year old California native working in the healthcare industry, and is passionate about creating community through mindful communication. She's a dancer, a hula hooper, a huge bird nerd, and an ex-rock climber who keeps telling herself that she'll get back into it. Her dreams include someday working in the grey-water industry and educating the world about good consent practices.
S is a 24 year old recent college grad who will take Ed's spot after he departs to further his education in August. He spent most of his college career in computer labs and studio art building/theatre complex while he practiced singing in the shower. Cooking and travelling are his recent favorite activities. There are lots of things for him to figure out after he steps out of the graduation gate, but he's excited to be part of the real world and begin his career as a software engineer.
H is a 22 year old, currently finishing her last semester of college. She loves to learn new things and spend time outside / hiking / camping / backpacking. Recently, she's also getting into rock climbing and started learning piano. She's never lived in a co-op before, but she's very excited to be a part of and to contribute to the community! She'll be working as a teaching assistant for a coding summer immersion program for high school girls before starting a job as a software engineer.
X is a 24 year-old software engineer who has lived in China and U.S. She spends her time climbing, photographing, writing, and attending events around the city with emphases on learning and connecting. Her interests are wide-ranging, including art, fashion, languages, technological progress, sustainability, mindfulness, and community-building. She lived her first year in San Francisco in the 40-person communal-living space, Chateau Ubuntu, which sparked her to create her own (smaller) intentional housing. She hopes to continue growing through creativity, travel, and authentic interaction. Her dreams are grand, yet practical - positive changes in the world begin in our own communities.
