$1,400
Hello!
We’re looking for a roommate to rent out 1 room and 1 private bath in a 3 bed/2bath apartment in Palo Alto…… you read correctly, in PALO ALTO proper! We leased the apartment recently in order to secure the location, and are looking for a third roommate!
About the Apartment
The apartment complex is called the Parker, Palo Alto (see website: https://prometheusreg.com/san-francisco-bay-area-apartments/san-francisco-peninsula/parker-palo-alto?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=parker-palo-alto&gclid=CIDl1OqOtNUCFQiUfgodR7IE1A ). It is a crazy short drive from Stanford campus and about 3 minutes away from the 101 freeway. It has incredible amenities (3 pools, 4 grills, 2 gyms) and the staff are very friendly! The unit we rented is a 3 bedroom 2 bath unit. The other roommate and I will share the master bathroom, so you will have your own bathroom! The unit comes with central A/C, heating, a dishwasher, fridge, microwave, and stove, and washer/dryer in the unit. It is on the second floor on a corner, so we are only neighbored by one apartment to the left, and one below.
Some Basics
Rent: $1,400 per month
Security Deposit: One month’s rent (may be lowered after third roommate applies for the lease through the apartment complex)
Application fee (from apartment complex): $35.00
Move in Date: September 5
Length of Lease: 9 months with option to renew (we only chose 9 months because it was the best-value option included in our quote).
Utilities: Depending on usage, can be anywhere from $50-$100/month per roommate for Trash, Gas, Water, Electricity, and Internet
About Us
We’re two class of 2014 Stanford alums in our mid-twenties. I work at Stanford in international relations, and the other roommate (male) is a technology consultant in Silicon Valley. We both have active lifestyles and are typically busy on nights and weekends. We both love cooking, seeing friends in the area, watching sports, binge watching our favorite shows on Netflix/HBO, and just generally relaxing when we have downtime.
As roommates we are:
Clean: I clean at the very least once a week, and we both value clean common areas
Quiet but active: During the week we appreciate coming home to relax, have a glass of wine, and we are usually out and about on weekends
Up for entertaining/making friends: We love having dinners, grilling out, and having watch parties from time to time. We don't have to be friends, but we’d be happy to make new ones :)
Willing to Carpool: I have a car, and if you work on campus I'd be happy to carpool with you!
About You!
We are looking for a roommate who is:
Either Male or Female
Responsible and CLEAN: a responsible roommate who does his/her share to keep common areas consistently clean (helps take out the trash, clean kitchen, vacuum consistently*) If you feel this does not fit you or your lifestyle, I suggest you think twice about applying!
Communicative/friendly: Coming home to a relaxed and comfortable environment is extremely important to us, so being able to communicate with and respect one another is key!
Open to living with a pet: I don't have a dog currently, but I’m thinking about getting a hypoallergenic breed at some point. If you love dogs, we'll get along perfectly!
A non-smoker: The apartment complex is a 100% smoke free zone, and one of the roommates is asthmatic, so we are not looking for someone who smokes or does any other form of legal or non-legal drugs.
Preferably a Car owner: The apartment complex is a very close driving distance to campus(~15 minutes), and within biking distance to grocery stores. However, it may be difficult to walk or bike to campus (its about a 25-30 minute bike ride to campus). This isn’t a make or break, but we want to be open about the walkability!
If you’re interested:
Please reply with an email telling us about who you are and why you think we would get along long-term as roommates. If you can touch on all the points listed above you get bonus points! After that, we will screen applications and get back to you if we think you’re a good fit! At that point we can also send you pictures of the apartment and the floorplan.
