Roommate Search:
Two close friends are searching for additional roommates to complete a house in Palo Alto or Mountain View. Preference is strong for a couple (or two close friends, or a single person making a lot of money lol) who are willing to share the master bedroom, since this would help to bring down the cost of rent for everyone.
About Us:
J and L have lived together for the past year in Stanford-subsidized off-campus housing, so we already know we are very compatible roommates. J recently graduated from Stanford, so she is no longer eligible for Stanford housing – hence the housing search!
J graduated from Stanford undergrad in 2015 and just graduated from the Stanford Teacher Education Program. She is excited to be teaching 1st grade in Campbell next year! In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and eating (especially eating), playing guitar, reading & writing, watching Modern Family, and hiking locally on the weekends. She is particularly interested in issues of education reform and loves talking about social issues with friends.
L graduated from MIT in 2015 and is entering her third year as a PhD student in chemical engineering at Stanford. She is extremely active, playing with local soccer leagues a few nights each week and spending many weekends backpacking, camping, or backcountry skiing. She also enjoys trying out new gluten-free recipes and is particularly weak to Trader Joe’s coffee ice cream.
Both of us are very kind and supportive, eager for a home where we can catch up with each other at the end of the day, celebrate our triumphs and vent our frustrations, and generally have each other's backs. We both know how to balance socializing with respecting others’ need for privacy and alone-time – sometimes, we're exhausted and just want to retreat to our rooms! Introverts and extroverts will fit in here =) Also, we’re not super interested in hosting mega-drinking parties, but we enjoy having small-to-medium-sized groups of friends over for occasional BBQs or cook-outs.
About You:
We are looking for a couple or pair of friends who get along really well, with an established history that indicates stability (we’re trying to minimize drama haha). People who are kind and considerate of others, who can compromise and navigate conflict respectfully, and who are looking to join us in creating our own little community =)
Housing:
We have been actively seeking out housing in Palo Alto & Mountain View. Our ideal move-in date is August 1.
Our ideal price points are approximately:
3 bedrooms for 4 people (2 sharing a room): $4500 or less
OR
4 bedrooms for 5 people (2 sharing a room): $5500 or less
These are ballpark estimates; we may be willing to negotiate. The roommate(s) we are seeking for the master bedroom would likely pay between $1800 and $2200 for the room, depending on the cost of the house.
