Hello! I am searching for a summer subletter from June 21 to Aug 31. for my bedroom in a charming 3 bedroom 1 bath, 1012 sq ft house. There may also be an option of signing the next 1 year-lease starting Sept 1. The house is in Redwood City on the border of Atherton, located on a quiet, tree-lined road. It has a front yard, back yard (outfitted with patio furniture and string lights), and washer and dryer in unit. It has a garage for plenty of storage. And the grounds are landscaped -- we even have a lime tree . It is located 5 miles from the northern edge of Stanford’s campus, situated in a spot that makes for easy biking to and from (about a 30 minute ride). There is always street parking available if you have a car. Downtown Redwood City (restaurants, bars, farmers’ market, CalTrain Station) is about 1.5 miles away. There are lots of grocery stores nearby, including Trader Joe’s, Safeway, Mexican markets, the famous K&L Wine Shop and a Target. The ECR Bus, which runs all the way up and down El Camino Real, stops nearby (about a 10 minute walk).
About the room:
The room is 11' x 11' large enough to fit a queen size bed with plenty of room left over for a dresser and desk. It also has a large, deep closet 5.5' x 3'. The room has two windows and hardwood floors. The bedroom is currently furnished, but I plan to sell all my furniture before moving. If the subletter would like to buy the room’s worth of furniture at an even further discounted price, that would be ideal. The rest of the house is furnished by the other two roommates.
Dates:
The room is available starting June 21 until the lease ends on Aug. 31. I am moving out of the area, so if you are a great fit in the house and are interested in signing the next 1-year lease starting Sept 1, that could be an option.
Cost:
The rent is $1225/mo plus utilities, which should average around $70/mo in the summer. This includes all utilities: water, gas, electric, trash, wifi, cable with DVR and On-Demand. If you move in before July 1, I would pro-rate the rent and utilities to cover the number of days in June that you are renting the room.
About your new roommates: The two women who live in the house are friends in their mid 20's and 30's who both have full-time jobs. One is a geography professor at a nearby college and the other is a post-doctoral fellow at Kaiser. They have busy careers and like to have a nice, relaxing space to come home to. They would prefer a roommate who’s a positive part of the household, someone who would like to cook dinners and watch movies together once in a while. They keep the common areas clean and free of clutter. Someone who is up for watching trashy reality TV is a plus, but not mandatory :)
